I love Valentine’s Day and now that February is here we need valentines for the kids’ school. There are so many options these days for valentines ranging from character themed cards to cards with candy or stickers. My kids, and I think most others as well, have always preferred getting the valentines with a treat. I really limit my children’s candy intake to prevent cavities and encourage healthy eating habits, so a lot of the time I am throwing away the candy a month later.
I have really gotten interested in making a “one of a kind” valentine for my kids’ classes. I think sometimes I get into the holiday more than they do! 🙂 I also want to make sure they are giving items that they would like to receive. I always think about how disappointed I was when I got those disgusting candies that are wrapped in orange or black wax paper that you get trick-or-treating. Ugh! I never want to give something that the kids’ won’t enjoy.
Below I have complied a list of my favorite DIY 7 healthy Valentines options for kids.
You’re Awesome Valentine’s Sauce
I LOVE this valentine that I found at view from the fridge that includes a free printable. Which kid, or parent for that matter, doesn’t like the squeezable applesauce? It is such a great healthy snack to eat on the go.
Valentine’s Bookmark
This is such a great idea and it encourages reading. I don’t know about you but children are always misplacing their bookmark and searching for another to keep their place. Click here for a link to the printables. The great thing about this valentine is all you need is card stock, scrap ribbon, and a hole punch.

Valentine’s Bubbles or Valentine’s Crayons
Pretty prudent has some cute printables that you can attach to bubbles or a bag/box of crayons. This would be perfect for preschool aged kids!
